What is Kona Weather Like?
Kona has a tropical climate which means that our weather doesn’t vary to extremes. The average temperature ranges from 75*-86* year-round. But don’t let those numbers fool you, we also have high humidity levels: it can be sunny, hot, and humid, or it can also be rainy, warm, and humid.
In short, cooler months are November - April and warmer months are May - October with September and October being the warmest.
06/

Best Road Running Routes?
Ali’i Drive: Ali’i is the most convenient place to run as it spans 6.5 miles (or 13 miles out-and-back) and is the coastal access road. It has some rolling hills, some shade, and plenty of public restrooms and water fountains at the beach parks along the way.

Ane Keohokalole Highway: This road is perfect for running as there is a sidewalk that runs parallel to the road. The road spans about 3 miles and has rolling hills. The one downfall is there is no shade but the view is great!
10/
Best Trail Running Routes?
Unfortunately, we don't have any great trails in the immediate Kona area, so you'll have to drive a bit to find some.
Mana Road, Waimea: Mana Road is a dirt/gravel road and a favorite among locals as it’s located in Waimea where the weather tends to be cooler. It sits at about 2500 feet (760m) of elevation so pack for warmer, cooler, and wet conditions as the weather can change quickly. The road actually goes all the way to the Mauna Kea Access Road so it’s easy to run for miles and miles in one direction.

Captain Cook Monument Trail: If you’re looking to get in some vertical miles, this is the one for you! The trail is about 4 miles round-trip - 2 steep miles down and 2 steep miles back up. Don’t let the elevation gain of this one scare you off though because the view is spectacular!
