Couch to 5K Training Group for the Jingle Bell Beach Run
Every year we put together a free "Couch to 5k" training group of runners whose goal is to complete the Jingle Bell Beach Run 5k. This training group is aimed at the beginning runner. The program begins with walk/run intervals and progresses to where participants can run the entire 5k distance without stopping. This has been one of our most fun and successful training groups. You'll see past participants of Couch to 5k at our group runs, competing in marathons, and even working in our store.
Our 2016 Couch to 5k Program for the Jingle Bell Beach Run will start on Tuesday, October 18 at 5 p.m. at our Alii Drive store. We will have a brief introductory meeting and fill out registration forms, and then we will start with our first run/walk. The first day begins with a 5 minute warm up walk and then 60 seconds of jogging followed by 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes. Over the coming weeks, we will work up from that to running the 5k! The Jingle Bell Beach Run is on Sunday, December 18 this year.
